The actors of the new series “Vikings: Valhalla” spoke about the relevance of the film

The performers of the main roles in the Vikings: Valhalla series, which is released on Netflix and is a continuation of the popular Vikings franchise, told Izvestia about their characters, the siege of London and the bloody showdown between Christians and pagans, and how relevant the history of the Vikings is today time.

New characters are now appearing in the series: the young Prince of Norway Harald Sigurdsson played by Leo Suter, the Greenlander Freydis Eriksdotter played by Frida Gustafsson, and the son of Erik the Red Leif Eriksson, Freydis’ brother played by Sam Corlett. Also joining the film’s team is a new showrunner, Jeb Stewart, who previously wrote screenplays for such films as Die Hard, Prisoner and The Fugitive.

According to Corlett, “Valhalla” is a series that is faster and more extravagant than the original.

“Personally, I am 100% sure that this is an actual series, without any discounts. When you start studying history, sorting out the cases of bygone days, you understand more and more that maybe we began to dress a little differently, but as people we practically have not changed. We still need love as well, we need to be accepted for who we are, ”Gustafsson said.

Corlett even compared the sacred attitude of the Vikings to the earth with modern reflection on the environment, ecology, and nature.

In the course of working on the film, the actors discovered some interesting historical details, for example, that despite the severity of their everyday life, the Vikings carried toothpicks with them.
