The artistic director of the “School of the Modern Play” Iosif Reichelgauz, in an interview with Izvestia on Friday, February 25, spoke about the reasons for the dismissal of actor Marat Basharov.
According to him, they decided to stop working with the artist because of “another binge”. The director said that the theater was participating in the festival in Cyprus, and Basharov was supposed to play in the play “City”. Meanwhile, he did not fly to the performance due to drinking. Instead, actor Vadim Kolganov will take the stage.
“Basharov went on another drinking bout. This has happened more than once. I canceled performances in Moscow. He just didn’t come and get on the plane. Naturally, I immediately called another artist, the sober artist Vadik Kolganov, my student, Honored Artist of Russia. Vadim will arrive tomorrow and will play, ”Raichelgauz said.
He added that Basharov “endangered both the festival, the theater and Russia”, as a result of which he was fired for violating production discipline. According to NSN, the artist binge happened regularly every month.
Basharov himself stated that he was not a member of the theater troupe and was not a full-time actor of the School of Modern Play. About Kolganov, he said that he was “a wonderful comrade and person,” writes Reedus.
