Putin congratulated Russian Special Operations Forces on their professional holiday

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday, February 27, congratulated the Russian Special Operations Forces (SOF) on their professional holiday, expressing special gratitude to those who are now fulfilling their military duty in the Donbass, providing assistance to the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics.

The head of state noted that the SOF have repeatedly proved their ability to act in any conditions with maximum efficiency and “clearly and competently” solve the most difficult tasks.

“The heroic traditions of special forces were laid down in the centuries-old history of our army. They were tempered during the Great Patriotic War and continued, strengthened in Afghanistan and in many hot spots, in the course of the liquidation of terrorist groups in the North Caucasus and Syria,” he said.

According to the president, the nature of modern conflicts is changing dynamically, and it is important to improve the level of professional skills, combat skills, hone the handling of the latest weapons and equipment, “superior in everything and always any potential adversary.”

“I know that you are going through just such a comprehensive, comprehensive, intensive training, a real combat school. You look up to the best examples of valor and courage of true patriotism. And you educate new generations of domestic defenders on them, pass on your experience to young servicemen, ”Putin stated.

The Russian leader also thanked the command and personnel of the SOF, as well as veterans for their impeccable service to the Motherland.

“Special gratitude to those who these days are heroically fulfilling their military duty in the course of a special operation to provide assistance to the people’s republics of Donbass. I wish good luck, success and all the best to you and your loved ones,” the head of state added in conclusion.

On February 24, Putin announced a special operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass. The corresponding decision was made in accordance with legal and humanitarian norms: in accordance with Art. 51 part 7 of the UN Charter and in order to protect people who have been subjected to abuse and genocide by the Kiev regime for eight years.

The Russian Defense Ministry stressed that the army did not carry out air, missile or artillery strikes on the cities of Ukraine. The civilian population of the country is not in danger. High-precision weapons destroy military infrastructure. As of February 26, 821 objects of the military infrastructure of Ukraine were put out of action. The total number of already faulty equipment includes American Javelin anti-tank missile systems and British NLAW.

On February 21, Vladimir Putin signed decrees recognizing the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics (DNR and LNR). The Russian President and the heads of the DPR and LPR Denis Pushilin and Leonid Pasechnik signed agreements on friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance, which involve interaction in the political, economic, social and military spheres. The agreements were ratified by the Russian President and the Federation Council.

Since 2014, the Ukrainian authorities have been conducting a military operation against the inhabitants of Donbass, who refused to recognize the results of the coup d’état and the new government in Ukraine. At the same time, Kyiv blames Moscow for the current situation. Russia has repeatedly stated that it is not a party to the conflict.
