Soviet and Russian theater and film actor Boris Mikhailovich Sokolov died at the age of 78. This was reported on February 27 in the press service of the St. Petersburg Academic Drama Theater. V.F. Komissarzhevskaya.
“It is with deep regret that we inform you that on February 26, 2022, the People’s Artist of Russia, a kind, amazing person, Boris Sokolov, passed away,” the message says.
The theater clarified that the place and time of farewell to the actor will be announced later.
Boris Sokolov became famous for playing in the play “Holy of Holies”.
He was born on March 18, 1944. In 1965 he graduated from GITIS named after Lunacharsky. He worked at the Leningrad Theater named after Lenin Komsomol. From 1977 to 2022 – actor of the Academic Drama Theater. V.F. Komissarzhevskaya.
He played in the performances “Kin IV”, “Return to Life”, “General Serpilin”, “Invitation to the Castle”, “Holy of Holies”, “Farewell, Clown!”, “Turbin Days”, “French Things”, “Crazy Jourdain” and many others. His last role was Sam in the lyrical tragicomedy With and Without You.
