The websites of the government and authorities of the Crimea were subjected to cyberattacks

On February 28, the websites of the government and authorities of Crimea were subjected to massive DDoS attacks. This was reported in the Ministry of Information and Internal Policy of the peninsula.

It is noted that hackers use a botnet whose IP addresses are mainly located in North and South America, Taiwan and several other countries. All attacks are aimed at disabling web resources.

“As of February 28, 2022, against the backdrop of a special military operation of the Russian Federation, the IT infrastructure of the authorities of the Republic of Crimea is being subjected to massive DDoS attacks,” the ministry said in a statement.

Earlier that day, the websites of a number of Russian media outlets were hacked. So, hackers disrupted the work of Izvestia, TASS, Kommersant, Fontanka, Mel, Pravo.ru, Lenta.ru, Buro 24/7, RBC and others.

On February 26, the Ministry of Digital Development reported that users of the public services portal may encounter difficulties when working with the site’s services due to cyber attacks. At the same time, personal data and information of citizens are reliably protected, assured the department.

On the same day, the administration of the President of the Russian Federation reported regular cyber attacks on the Kremlin website. The RZD website is also regularly subjected to serious DDoS attacks.

On February 24, RT reported new DDoS attacks on the site that lasted for six hours and were carried out in a quarter of cases from the United States.
