“I once asked Tabakov: “Oleg Pavlovich, what will happen if you suddenly start to get sick, you can’t come to the theater?” He replied: “Then a bullet in the forehead is better.” And he played to the last, ”recalled Avangard Leontiev.
According to the artist, despite the fact that the artistic director of the Moscow Art Theater was ill, he played several performances a month.
“And suddenly at night he fell at home. He spent several months in the hospital. Doctors tried to do everything possible and impossible. Marina looked after him, there were children nearby, but they could not be saved. While Tabakov could reach the stage, he played, ”Leontiev said.
