A fire broke out in a hostel on Russky Island in Vladivostok, about 400 people left the building before firefighters arrived. This was reported on March 1 by the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Primorsky Territory.
It is noted that the signal about a fire in a student dormitory in the village of Ajax was received by the fire and rescue service at 04:11 on Tuesday (21:11 Moscow time on Monday).
“At the time firefighters arrived, the fourth and fifth floors of the left wing of the hostel were partially filled with smoke. As a result of the fire, a bookcase on the fourth floor was damaged by fire in an area of about 2 square meters. m,” the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations specified.
The fire was extinguished by 11 firefighters and two pieces of equipment. There were no casualties, the emergency services added.
The cause of the fire is being established. Investigators from the Ministry of Emergency Situations and experts from the fire laboratory are working at the scene of the incident.
