Today, the model company in western Styria has reached 60 hectares of vineyards and, with its top locations, is at the top of the list of Schilcher producers. While it was the rustic, acidic variants of the rosé at the start, he recognized the potential of the Blauer Wildbacher very early on. On the one hand, he successfully relied on the strategy of working out the locations of the terroir in the still wine, on the other hand, he very soon recognized that the grapes, with their fruitiness and fresh acidity, provide an optimal basis for the production of sparkling wine (frizzante) and sparkling wine.
In the case of single vineyard wines, it is the Eingelweingarten and Lamberg vineyards that provide the typical wines of the house. The south-facing Lamberg with its very long rows of grating brings with it different phases of maturity. In the upper area, the grapes reach their best ripeness immediately before the harvest, in the lower area (next to the cooling forest) are the aromatic varieties with a lot of freshness and fruitiness. The Engelweingarten monopol site, high above Stainz, is home to some 40-year-old vines. The downdrafts of the Koralpe ensure coolness and freshness and the sunny south-east orientation brings the necessary sugar and extract values. In the cellar, some of the top wines from these locations are allowed to mature in wooden barrels and constantly deliver exciting results. The white Weststeiermark DAC wines span the typical range of grape varieties from Pinot Blanc, Morillon and of course the aromatic Sauvignon Blanc. The Schilcher Rosé department covers the classic area and the vineyard wines described. For those who like it sparkling, the sparkling wine range offers a wide range. The portfolio ranges from Muskateller Frizzante to the pure Sauvignon Blanc sparkling wine to the large reserves of the Riede Engelweingarten in the highest quality. All in all: The Reiterer house offers the optimal variety of the Schilcher.
