According to Glassdoor’s “5 Trends Reshaping the Way We Work Post-COVID 19” report, we will witness an “unprecedented wave of experimentation and innovation” leading to “hybrid” roles developing some of the time. in the office and one remotely: “Most workers will return to face-to-face work, but probably without following the traditional Monday-Friday routine that has dominated corporate culture for the last century.”
In this hybrid model that is beginning to take shape, in the workplace some people have a permanent desk in the office, as before, while others connect by videoconference. Some employees work from home several days a week and commute the rest, while others maintain the traditional 9-5 schedule, and still others create their own schedule that allows them to get more done.
In such a connected world, it no longer makes sense to expect employees to work an eight-hour shift and have good results. Whether you have a global team to manage across time zones, work on a project that is more or less active depending on the season, or simply balancing professional and personal obligations, it seems increasingly clear that having workers tied to rigid schemes is not the best option.
It is at this point where technological tools come to play a fundamental role. Digital collaboration platforms, systems that allow devices to be shared, improve communications and make work more agile in this new hybrid format, providing improvements to the performance of each participant, are now gaining a more defined role. The efficiency achieved in this new stage will depend on the decisions made by each organization, in which combining the different work modalities becomes a key aspect to achieve success.
