There are 14 hectares of vineyards positioned on the slopes of the Leithaberg. Bringing the pure taste of the unique terroir into the bottle is his primary goal. The small, well-known plots on the southern slopes of the Leithaberg are cultivated with sensitivity and manual work. As a result, the limestone and slate soils provide the grape material from which genuine wines are made for connoisseurs of these wines typical of their origin.
In the cellar, the must from perfectly ripe grapes is spontaneously fermented with natural yeasts. The young wine is allowed to mature on the fine lees for varying periods of time. This results in expressive wines that give pleasure for a long time. To start with, the Pinot Blanc from old vines pleases. A fruity-spicy all-rounder with structure and length, especially as an optimal food accompaniment, especially with fish dishes or baked goods.
The Leithaberg DAC Chardonnay from the prominent location Ried Tatschler shows the full potential of its origin. The fruitiness, minerality and complexity of the location are impressively expressed. An impressive Burgundy, which is probably one of the best in the country.
From the Blaufränkisch series, the DAC representative from the Reisbühl site is particularly popular. Present spice, density on the palate and typical primary fruitiness, paired with the elegance of long aging in small barrels. This is how you imagine the ideal ambassador of the Leithaberg. And as a small, pre-Easter recommendation: wines from Michael Kirchknopf should always be on the culinary radar screen.
