SMEs and multinationals, the “David and Golliat” in the world of work

In the Multi there are many people who compete strongly for a position that in the end very few have access to, since, in general, their own structures do not allow everyone to have opportunities to grow, which also gives rise to situations that are not always fair. It is very common to see how highly trained and experienced workers stay for years in the same position, when others less prepared and with less time in the company grow disproportionately thanks to the interpersonal relationships they can generate.

SME effect

There is a saying that “It is better to be the head of a mouse than the tail of a lion”. SMEs are becoming more and more professional and in them you can find a level of camaraderie that is difficult to find in large organizations. You most likely have access to company leaders, your ideas are more likely to be heard and your leadership may be more important in an SME than in a Multinational.

We cannot lose sight of the fact that, as a recent report by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) points out, SMEs represent more than half of formal jobs worldwide.

In a small or medium-sized company, your imprint, your seal, can make a difference in what happens there. On the other hand, in a Multi you can hardly achieve a radical change.

Healthy Links = Healthy Organizations

Both types of organizations have their good sides and their bad sides but, to cite an example, it is not by chance that football teams or other large sports teams seek to have short squads, so that they can be better managed. For both a leader and a person led, the fewer members there are, the more you can get the most out of the bond, and we know that bonds are key for a project to be successful. With good leadership and a great team, the most ambitious goals can be achieved.

From a global strategic perspective, we observe that there is a tendency to concentrate wealth in a few large organizations, where workers are in many cases a mere number, without a doubt, this generates more poverty and fewer opportunities. On the other hand, the diversity that SMEs provide can offer more possibilities to people, therefore, a greater distribution of abundance in the world of work.

In the end, we, the workers, will define where we will contribute our talent and what company scheme we will feed the most.
