In “Fanaticisms and Charismas” we have asked different psychoanalysts how to understand men, who beyond their capacity and intelligence, seek to submit to mandates that lead them to destruction, suffering and even death. We reflect on the blind faith that, in certain ideologies, manage to cloud the vision of reality and create a parallel reality, often at odds with the knowledge of science (it is enough, as an example, to name the anti-vaccines here). Thus, they skew the information provided by reality to adapt it to their wishes with the absolute certainty of being the owners of the “truth”. What are unconscious determinations that obstruct thought? We have stopped, too, on those charismatic personalities who arouse an unshakable adherence to their thought. Many times these unique personalities drive the advancement of society, whether in art or science. However, at other times they are just messengers of death that devastate the world. How to differentiate them?
Book Of fanaticisms and charismas: psychoanalytic crossroads.pdf
Throughout the pages of this book, which we are presenting today, different psychoanalysts and thinkers unravel the social and individual fabric of fanaticisms and charisms. We study the particular characteristics of adolescents, so likely to fall into their clutches. We have stopped to think about how these phenomena affect society in general and small organizations (particularly psychoanalytic associations) and, finally, we have also tried to think about them in relation to soccer and other sports.
The APA compilation, which turns 80 in 2022, includes articles by the following psychoanalysts and thinkers.
