It is the path that the president marked out for us Alberto Fernandez and the Minister of Public Works of the Nation Gabriel Katopodiswho entrusted us with the enormous task of continuing to develop safe water and sewerage works throughout the national territory.
It is with this broad perspective that we join efforts in order to consolidate the federalization and expansion of public works, translating into action the political decision to multiply interventions throughout Argentina. Because, in fact, we know that a greater development of this kind of projects allows us to revitalize the production chain, promote the creation of jobs and boost the markets, thus promoting the operation of a virtuous circle with the potential to put our beloved country on its feet. .
With that horizon and from the start-up of a Federal Map of Water and Sanitation, we managed to quintuple the investment budget for works. The Map is a diagnostic tool that we implement with the key participation of governors and mayors.
With this progress, we managed to align our work with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the United Nations Organization (UN). The initiative proposes to achieve total coverage of drinking water and at least 80 percent of sanitation services worldwide by 2030.
Along these lines, we also promote actions such as the Federal Forums “Let’s talk about water”whose purpose is to facilitate the collective construction of a Water Law between different actors of society, for example communities, provinces, municipalities, universities and NGOs.
This initiative, which we promote together with the president of Argentine Water and Sanitation (AySA), Malena Galmarinihas the support and encouragement of the National Ministry of Public Works, FUTRASAFODE (Foundation of Sanitary Workers for Training and Development), the Greater Buenos Aires Union of Sanitary Works Workers (SGBATOS), the University Institute of Water and Sanitation (IUAS), and different governmental, academic, professional and social organizations.
We all take on the challenge of getting this regulation approved, to democratize universal access to water and sanitation services beyond any administration.
We are very aware that ultimately it is about concretizing projects that improve people’s quality of life. It is the small works that have an impact on the proximity of the neighborhoods, in addition to generating intensive labor. Because public works, above all, support employment. And work, in addition to being a right, is one of the pillars of our society.
In this sense, it is worth noting that when we began our management in ENOHSA, at the end of 2019, we counted only eleven water and sanitation works in execution. In contrast, andn 2022 we have more than 1,400 work fronts throughout the country, generating more than 17 thousand jobs.
Thus, with the Federal Water and Sanitation Plan, we continue to bring these essential services to every corner of Argentina, without making partisan distinctions or of any kind. With that same federal vision, we inaugurated the central offices of the ENOHSA Mesopotamian Delegation, in Entre Ríos, the Norte Grande Delegation, in Tucumán, and new Delegations in Santa Fe and Córdoba. These are regional representations of the Entity that allow us to optimize the work that is being carried out in the area, reaching other provinces.
In short, we always work with the goal of consolidating public works as the engine of the economy, in order to make progress that improves the quality of life of the seven million people who still do not have drinking water, and the other 20 million who They lack sewers. The bar is high, but we are on the right track, with Argentina on its feet and ready to settle this historic debt.
