The corona crisis has not caused Austrians to rethink flying.

Anyone who liked to fly before the crisis will continue to do so – that was the result of a recent survey commissioned by the aviation association. After more than two years of the pandemic, including travel restrictions, the longing for far away is great. There is talk of “Revenge Travel” on social media.

You want to catch up on what you have missed, good resolutions and climate awareness are apparently on summer break this year. Overcrowded airports, canceled flights and the long waiting times associated with them will not change that.

CONS

down to earth

A dictum – only flying is nicer! – just experienced its crash landing. People get airborne even before the flying machines take off – unnerved by canceled or delayed flights, chaotic conditions at check-in, long queues at security checks and consequently wasted life time.

The form of travel that was well practiced in the past Corona summers – staying on the ground and discovering your own country – will be continued this year: on a mountain bike, in hiking boots, on local lakes, on trains with reserved seats. Or relaxed and lazy in the shady garden instead of waiting tense and frustrated at an airport.
