Paradoxically, now the Scholz’s Germany could shift European balances if it successfully injects the aid package of 200 billion euros of public funds to alleviate the electricity and gas bills of industries and families and consequently fight inflation.
It is true that, since it is a common bloc, each country cannot be divided according to its national budget and in the midst of this war context, in order to maintain the balance, solidarity is needed to support the most vulnerable countries, such as Italy, a country with high public debt, which imports 40% of gas and despite being the third largest economy in the European Union, its industrial competitiveness is heavily penalized by energy costs among the highest in the old continent.
In this dramatic context, the new winner of the Italian elections, Giorgia Melonileader of the far-right party “Brothers of Italy” threatens not to follow the condescension of the European vertex in Brussels and promises to protect the national interest.
In recent days, Meloni has chosen to limit public exposures to dedicate himself to outlining the first announcements of his future management promised in the aggressive political campaign.

QUID PRO QUO. Russian gas only in exchange for rubles is the slogan that Vladimir Putin seeks to impose on Europe. Only in this way could Moscow take over the payments for sending the input given the hard currency bloc imposed by Western sanctions.
“If we were called to govern this nation, it is clear that we are going to give effective and immediate answers to the main problems of the Italians”, thus Giorgia Meloni He broke his silence after a week of the elections that gave him the victory to form a government for the next five years. And he did it from the stage of an event organized in Milan by the powerful Italian agricultural organization, Coldiretti. “The objective – continued Meloni – is to give an industrial strategy to this nation that has not had one for a long time” and added “Italy must return to defend its national interests to find common solutions. The supply chains need to be controlled to be masters of their own destiny” and she continued “we must stop speculation with energy” said the woman who will receive the task of forming the new government at the end of October.
Among Meloni’s main concerns are precisely the monstrous rises in energy bills -electricity and gas- that have become the drama of the population and are hanging European governments.
The effects of wartime supply constraints and Russia’s reaction to Western sanctions, combined with the initial boom in demand after the pandemic ended, they are the european nightmareand some governments – starting with Draghi’s in Italy – are urgently calling for common measures.
Meanwhile, next weekend, the apex of the EU will meet in Prague and some concrete and shared measures are expected, such as -it is rumored- imposing a cap on the price of gas at a European level to avoid speculation. If a shared answer is not found, each state will have to continue to act on its own and the Euroscepticism of parties like those about to govern Italy will predominate.
