Among the 702 jobs most at risk of disappearing are telemarketers, insurance salesmen, librarians, customs agents, bank credit clerks, insurance inspectors, sports referees, telephone operators, store salesmen, travel agents, cashiers, receptionists and waiters of restaurants and hotels, etc. According to the World Economic Forum, by the end of the decade, 5 million positions were lost around the world, including 3 million women, with only an increase of 550,000.
The company Foxconnnumber 23 on the Fortune Global 100 list, and it produces almost all the devices that we use, iphone, the playstation, several Galaxy models, Sharp products, today it has 1.2 million employees around the world and it predicts that in 10 years, it will replace almost all of them with robots.
This substitution of jobs, many of them in the hands of robots, also opens up a huge opportunity to create much better quality jobs. It is estimated that 80% of young people between the ages of 20 and 30 will be employed in professions that are newly born or have not yet been developed, according to McKinsey and the World Economic Forum. reskilling o the transformation of capabilities at the center of their priorities, pointing out that 40% of professionals will have to change their skills in the next 5 years. This triggers the creation of new careers, new specializations and a high need to respond to the demand for training as a result of market innovation. Being at the forefront will be key to attracting that talent that is eager to learn new skills.
While these new skills will be created, the technology is being inserted more and more in all industries. PropTech, EdTech, and endless companies where technology is the center are born. Therefore, these new positions demand new digital and technological capabilities as fundamental requirements. All work areas begin to be complemented with IT. Likewise, jobs related to data and technology will be key positions for companies in the coming years.
This constant and recurring acceleration and change of shape speeds up the reskilling. The speed of change is so dizzying that transformation and adaptation must be constant in order not to be left behind. According to a Mercer survey of 200 companies from various sectors about the Future Skills that will be required, technological fluency and innovation stand out, followed by desirable personality traits.
Skills related to people development are bound to be a special focus for companies scoring high for global importance and, at the same time, hard to hire. This is totally consistent with the idea that upskilling and reskilling is going to be essential for companies in the future.
