Design, a genuine source of dollars for Argentina

Design, a genuine source of dollars for Argentina

In my case, after finishing bilingual high school (English always helps), I had a vocation marked by art. I thought at the time that pursuing a degree in Graphic Design at the University of Palermo was an effective way to channel my artistic skills.

I am well aware that what is learned must be put into practice to complete the training, which is why, when I was in the second year of my degree, I applied for a position at AVON, the multinational cosmetics company, for its subsidiary in Argentina. I worked as Art Director, oriented mainly to Graphic Design. It was also very much in line with my passions for fashion and beauty.

I finished my degree with a specialization in Advertising Design and a thesis on the impact of “influencers” and technology in the world of beauty and “make up”.

Later I worked for an Argentine advertising company, Niña, and at the same time I did a specialization in UX / UI Design in Digital House. That was a breaking point.

UX is what a brand or product makes you feel when you interact with it, while UI it is a visual layer of colors, textures, shapes and elements.

When this merges with technology, a world of creativity arises, in which we can make the customer experience, when interacting with an App, for example, something friendly, pleasant and emotionally satisfying.

Then I was hired by GlobalLogic, a well known multinational company. From its subsidiary in Argentina, I worked for a client from the USA, in an app dedicated to education and well-being. My work was explicitly recognized by the client as an extraordinary contribution to UX Design. Simultaneously, I was mentoring students at Digital House and giving talks to students attending my university about Design career prospects.

I am currently working in an Argentine company, for one of its clients, which is one of the most important Fintech companies in the world.

Together with a remote team in the United States (one of the legacies left over from the pandemic), we set ourselves the goal of optimizing the customer checkout function. From my position as Senior Designer, the user experience was exceptionally improved, which made it possible for the company to grow in turnover significantly. I was recognized by the team leader for the extraordinarily creative design I brought to the project.

In short, in Argentina we have a lot of potential to generate and export quality work. Not only in the areas of programming. The particularity of UX Design, which allows us to capture, through shapes, colors, layouts and sequences, a better experience for the user who interacts with an application, is a genuine source for all those who want to combine the artistic with the digital.

Many young people still do not know these aspects of work and professional development. This is just starting…

UX Designer.
