I know many teachers who, like Daniel, make their students passionate and involved in their own learning. Thanks to the “Recreate the school” program carried out by Educere ONG, we have discovered and made visible incredible projects that link the school with local development, achieving more and better learning for each student.
To learn you have to be on. Learning does not occur with ‘off’ students. This is valid in terms of food and sleep. Teachers know that when their students don’t sleep and eat, it’s impossible for them to learn. But also, It is valid to understand that if the school does not build a bridge towards the interests of the students to generate learning from there, learning will not occur.
I have a musician son for whom school was a true ‘torment’ until he arrived at an institution to do his last two years of school where he felt valued and listened to. He always tells that, a few days after entering and seeing that the school did not have a musical band, he went to see the principal and proposed to organize one to play music at school events. They authorized it, and the band was officially ‘founded’ with students who even discovered a passion for an instrument thanks to it.
The World Teaching Guide 2022it is a completely free guide that together with a group of specialist and creative teachers we designed and launched from Educere NGO, with the intention of working on all kinds of content related to the sporting event, for primary school and the basic cycle of secondary school. We already exceeded 22,000 downloads in 20 days and let’s go for more.
We were convinced that schools could take advantage of this global event to find a transversal and motivating axis in the daily teaching and learning processes. In addition, given the moment in which this is carried out, it can be a great engine for students to go through the learning recovery stage; as the educational system itself proposes
The acceptance by the educational community of this 250-page teaching guide is incredible. Teachers from all over the country write to us about the fascination of their students. They see them turned on, learning through the different proposals that range from language practices, mathematics, social and natural sciences, art, technology, English and life projects. A few days before the World Cup begins, they send us images of boys and girls working in teams, writing as journalists; analyzing the planisphere through geo-economics; researching about the soccer passion; working on mathematics with probability and statistics, among hundreds of other pedagogical proposals.
So, when asked, how do we make being at school exciting and unforgettable? The answer seems to be that, if we make it vibrate, learning becomes as exciting as soccer. Let’s go Argentina!
