New technologies: the path towards sustainable logistics

In the logistics sector, technologies play a key role: within the logistics and transportation area, the implementation of the latest technological tools streamlines tasks, reduces risks, and even collaborates in caring for the environment.

Companies in the logistics sector -considered one of the most polluting- are committed to processes and technological improvements that reduce pollution.

Bridging the gap between the carbon footprint emitted by transport and compensation: the great challenge of the logistics sector

Maplink has spent 22 years developing technology for companies in all industries to grow their businesses through location data intelligence. In addition, with its latest and innovative development, the API CO2companies can calculate the carbon footprint of their vehicles so that they can offset it, find solutions and thus reduce the impact on the environment.

With the use of this API (acronym for Application Programming Interface) companies will be able to:

  • Amount of CO2 emitted on the route
  • Know the amount of CO2 that is emitted on a certain route and plan sustainability actions to reduce this impact.
  • Fuel consumption

By entering the type and price of the fuel used, the CO2 API provides data on the consumption and the total amount spent in the general indicators of the route.

Additionally, the service has three different integration options:

Use it independently: indicated for customers who consume other routing services and only want to obtain the calculation of CO2 emissions. In this case, in addition to the type of fuel and the average consumption of the vehicle, it will be necessary to inform the distance traveled on the route (in meters).

Trip API + Emission API: suitable for customers using the Travel API. The distance traveled in the route result is used to perform the calculation.

Toll for Maps API + Emission API – Recommended for customers using the Directions API (GMP), where the distance traveled in the route planning result is used to perform the calculation. In this case, the API will return the calculation of tolls and CO2 emissions.
