Mr. Thür seriously asks the conductor Franz Welser-Möst whether he thinks playing the Radetzky March at the New Year’s Concert is appropriate during the war in Ukraine. Apparently taken by surprise by this question, he can’t think of anything particularly quick-witted.
And Armin Wolf asks the Indian foreign minister, based on the quote allegedly used by Marie-Antoinette “If you can’t afford the bread, you should eat cake,” why India is still buying oil and gas from the Russians. The foreign minister countered with disarming honesty. Austria has approx. 30 times higher GDP/inhabitant than India and 1.4 billion Indians need energy. To ask?
