Michael Lindner called for a significant increase in heating subsidies, financed with the excess profits skimmed off by Energie AG. Two days later, they have to announce that the profits are lower than in the previous year. The reason for this is low water levels, more fossil fuels for thermal power plants at higher prices. Lindner suggests allowing asylum seekers to work immediately in the labor market in order to reduce costs and increase the satisfaction of the asylum seekers and thus their integration. The economy also benefits in its search for workers. The problem areas of wage dumping, linguistic and professional qualifications will take care of themselves.
Pamela Rendi-Wagner proposes suspending VAT on groceries in order to combat the poverty that is unfortunately spreading. How the trade could be prevented from using the resulting opportunity for secret price increases is not even discussed. Rendi-Wagner would like to relocate the production of medicines to Austria and Europe to reduce this delicate dependence on China. No mention is made of who is to negotiate with corporations such as Pfizer, BASF, La Roche… Bruno Kreisky?
