In order to create this new regulation, the government called to participate in the Federal Consultation Towards a New Disability Law, an open, participatory, plural and federal call where the interested parties provided contributions to the project that replaces the old disability law, in order to receive contributions, opinions, and information from civil society, people with disabilities and their families, organizations for people with disabilities, public agencies, among others.
The consultation was in charge of the National Disability Agency (Andis) which was created with the purpose of guaranteeing access to justice for people with disabilities on equal terms and promoting the development and application of policies that consolidate their rights. . The Public Hearings were carried out taking into account different accessibility strategies, such as sign language, online channels such as YouTube, and spaces with building structures with characteristics that ensure access and participation of all persons interested in the process. They had the participation of all the provinces of the country and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.
The new law will improve different aspects of the problem that deals with, including among others a improvement in unemployment levels suffered by people with disabilities, improving their chances of access to a decent jobwill achieve changes in the building structures including signs that specify which spaces meet the necessary conditions for a correct development of people with disabilities in social life, as well as in services, goods and products.
