The whole thing is implemented by the motivated team around cellar master Peter Rethaller. There are around 40 hectares of vineyards that are cultivated carefully and as naturally as possible. Herbicides and pesticides are not on the agenda. Thus, the potential of the individual sites is fully exploited – and this is reflected in the taste profile of the respective origin wines.
Well-known vineyard wines (classified as 1st vineyard by the Austrian traditional wineries), such as the Grillenparz (Riesling), Weinzierlberg (Grüner Veltliner) and Wachtberg (Grüner Veltliner) vineyards, produce wines with character and typicality due to their geologically different composition many ratings have long been among the top in the country.
Consequently, it also led to Weingut Stadt Krems being promoted to Winemaker of the Year 2020 (Falstaff). As if that were not enough, the motivated team around Fritz Miesbauer was also able to take over the vineyards of the Göttweig Abbey. Under the motto “Different locations – same strategy” it was possible to establish the wines from the southern Kremstal right at the top within a very short time. More about that soon at this point.
