We will probably never know which of the two was the first to inform the other that their decision depended on the other’s decision. We don’t know yet whether the English and French will follow suit in terms of armor, but it is likely. At the latest then it will be a war of the Allies together with Ukrainians against Russia on Ukrainian soil – albeit as a defense of the West against the Russian aggressor.
How will Putin react to this decision? Are the western side even considering recapturing Crimea? How would Putin react to severe losses? What would his response be if Crimea were lost?
Without American support, Europe is unable to defend itself. This sobering dependency is anything but reassuring. But an EU army wouldn’t let me sleep peacefully either. And there it is again: the great worry about an uncertain future. Hope it goes well!
