In times of polycrisis, Davos reinforces the urgency of multi-solution approaches

Unfortunately, neither the Old nor the New continent learned from the negative futures situation of 2020, where the hydrocarbons market collapsed from a supply surplus during confinement that led producers to the point of paying to have their barrels removed from them. hand oil. In this way, we have reached a situation of war between two key players in the supply of food (Ukraine) and energy (Russia) without having duly rethought international logistics.

Faced with the energy crisis, new technologies and digitization are of crucial importance and can help boost safety and efficiency in both planning and operations involved in the energy life cycle. In particular, we highlight 3 key opportunities for the concert of international leaders:

1) The change in the logistics system with regasification ships, which requires the development of the infrastructure and associated know-how to deploy this industry, in addition to innovation in supply and distribution models.

2) A boost to renewable energies, such as green hydrogen, solar and wind. Although its adoption has grown exponentially, there is still a long way to go before the energy matrix is net zero in terms of emissions.

3) Energy efficiency, appealing to an efficient and responsible generation, distribution and use of any type of energy, where support institutions and regulations begin to emerge to align all parties involved: producers, distributors, and civil society.

In short, this new edition of Davos was crossed by a context of polycrisis that demands multi-solution approaches that, in a capitalist system, offer numerous opportunities for innovation and profit. Said solutions require sustainable financing for the implementation of green technology and new forms of management that are not tied to particular forms of transportation, use, and consumption; but to a diversified mosaic of resources and renewable sources of energy.
