The Austrian Ski Association is standardizing its external image and wants to be perceived as Ski Austria in the future. As reported, the well-known ÖSV logo has given way to an A made up of nine bars, which represent the federal states. At the same time, each discipline has its own subject. The new logo was discussed extensively on social media. What do you think? You can vote here:

Rorschach test
Simple, elegant and recognizable – that’s how a good logo should be. It’s not that of Ski Austria. This is also the opinion of around 80 percent of an OÖN online survey. It should be “crossing tracks in the snow” that symbolize the federal states as well as “encounter, community and team spirit”.
With all the will for a new beginning: In this Stricherl-Rorschach test, the top of the association simply allowed itself to be pushed in with first-class marketing nonsense. My advice: please hire the agency salespeople as trainers! Because if you can talk someone into using a clumsy dash (–) as a useful pictogram for cross-country skiing, you can also convince some athletes of new self-confidence.

spirit of optimism
Two years ago I was still certain that the Golden Roof in Innsbruck would be painted pink before there was a woman at the head of the ski association. The roof is still golden – and the ÖSV has a female president in Roswitha Stadlober.
With the successor of long-term ruler Peter Schröcksnadel, a spirit of optimism has emerged. Admittedly, the new logo, which takes some getting used to, stands for the cutting off of old habits and a new beginning. Of course one can argue about whether it is beautiful or chic, creative or banal. But whatever? Whether a bitten apple (Apple), three stripes (Adidas) or nine dashes (ÖSV) – it depends on the content and not on the lettering. All logo?
