Throughout history there have been important social, demographic, health and epidemiological advances that have enriched the well-being of society. In this sense, the pharmaceutical industry, through innovation, has made and is making its contribution.
Thanks to the development of new and better treatments, medicines, preventive and effective methods such as vaccines, they have contributed to significantly improve people’s health and quality of life. It has not only allowed for the cure and prevention of diseases, but has also helped to reduce symptoms, speed up recovery time, reduce adverse effects and find new routes of administration that are more comfortable for people.
It is clear that with more innovation we will have more and better health, as long as that innovation is framed in a sustainable plan, and in turn accompanied by in-depth clinical research.
Clinical research plays a central role in the development of innovative drugs as it determines their efficacy and safety. In addition, it is one of the most thriving productive activities in the knowledge economy. According to the latest Survey on R&D of the Argentine Business Sector (ESID) published by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation of the Nation (MINCyT), companies dedicated to clinical research in Argentina invested 41,134 million current pesos in R activities. +D during the year 2021, a figure that represents a growth of 130% at constant values in recent years and an increase of 86% compared to 2020.
These are fundamental efforts for our industry to once again have the patient and the doctor at the center. This is done by constantly working focused on strengthening access to health and the support of the health system. This can only happen through an efficient model of collaboration between the public and private spheres.
Today more than ever, health has to be present in the social debate and the political agenda. Health is essential, today and always, for everyone.
