If you look around on the websites of the municipalities, there is a constant increase in commercial building areas. In 2012, a Wels-Voralpenland business park was established. Businesses should settle in only a few locations. In connection with this, one could create excellent infrastructure, it was said, the municipalities could get involved and thus also benefit from it for tax purposes and save themselves the costly construction of infrastructure. The enormous use of space and the cementing would be stopped because everything would take place in a much more concentrated way.
At the end of January 2022, the Welser Zeitung reported that the business park, which has since been renamed Voralpen-Businesspark, had not yet picked up speed and that a reform push was necessary.
None of that has happened since. Nothing has changed, the business park is in decline. Each municipality wants to continue to create its own industrial building area. Buchkirchen shows it.
Seen in this way, one must be grateful to the country if it finally refuses further rededications in communities.
