Winery Aigner in Krems – 250 years young
The Aigner wine-growing family produces wines according to the motto: “Wine is the only art that can be drunk!”

Originally it was a mixed farm. In the 1950s one began to concentrate fully on viticulture. Today’s winemaker, Wolfgang Aigner, is considered to be very tradition-conscious and tends to ignore brief fashion trends. The focus is clearly where it comes to bringing the characters of the different locations into his wines. The prerequisite for this is the well-sounding vineyard names such as Kremser Sandgrube (not to be confused with the brand name of the same name), the other vineyards Obere Sandgrube, Frechau and Weinzierlberg. In total, there are around 20 hectares of vineyards that are primarily planted with Grüner Veltliner and Riesling.

How could it be otherwise – especially for the anniversary year, at the completion of the quarter millennium, there is an anniversary wine that suits the occasion. This is a Veltliner from the best locations. And a typical “Aigner wine”: harmonious, elegant, fruit typical of the variety and with a refreshing acid extract structure. An elegant variety representative with drinking-stimulating flow on the palate and, on top of that, an ideal accompaniment to home cooking. The anniversary wine is adorned with a label by the Krems artist HaRo Kail. The long-standing friend of the house has thus broken the tradition of the easily recognizable A in Aigner wines and is emphasizing the special feature of the limited edition with golden ornaments.

In a nutshell, it is the love of wine that determines the actions of the entire winegrowing family. According to Luis Fernando Olaverri’s motto: “Wine is the only art that can be drunk!”
