PER

Totally failed

As euphoric as the reports about the developments on the one hand are, the threats that others paint on the wall sound just as apocalyptic – both views of artificial intelligence should be viewed with the necessary skepticism.

One thing is certain, artificial intelligence has arrived in everyday applications and is changing the digital world. Letting that happen without limits is irresponsible. The unregulated and open digital space that relies on the intelligence of its users has failed several times as an idea. How difficult it is to want to subsequently regulate what was initially allowed to happen endlessly is shown not least in social media. You don’t have to repeat this mistake now.

CONS

Z’Tod gfichten…

Artificial intelligence is beyond the control of the state. One could just as well call for a ban on bad weather. Applications like ChatGPT are freely available on the Internet.

Attempts to shackle the Web fail even the most authoritarian regimes. If the EU Commission thinks it can control the further development of artificial intelligence with paragraphs, that will mainly please those countries that give the developers a free hand.

It is undisputed that the rampant development of algorithms harbors social dangers. But in good Austrian the following applies: Z’Tod gfiacht is a g’morben. We must see AI as an opportunity and not as a playground for bureaucrats.

And what’s your opinion on that?
