A more inclusive choice

We ask the judges with electoral competence, the command chiefs, delegates, delegates and the polling station authorities to actively contribute to guarantee the measures implemented in this regard. It depends on this that voters with disabilities express their rights at the polls, that this Sunday they can be political protagonists and that they can vote in better conditions than in previous elections.

We know that there are still barriers to lift so that these processes are fully accessible: the establishments where voting is done must have a ramp for the access of people using wheelchairs, canes and other support elements; electoral advertisements must incorporate subtitles, locution and sign language; the ballots must add access to information tools for blind and low vision people, among many others. But we are working tirelessly and in a coordinated way to make it happen.

Undoubtedly, to achieve more inclusive elections in our country, all the actors involved must deepen our commitment and act with concrete measures. Thus, With the National Electoral Directorate, which depends on the Ministry of the Interior, and with the National Electoral Chamber, we are already designing mechanisms that in 2023 will substantially improve electoral accessibility in Argentina.

We also trust that male and female candidates, representatives of the different political forces, the media, among others, can appropriate this issue, promoting its visibility from their role as strategic actors. Electoral accessibility is to guarantee rights. And knowing, protecting and defending those rights is everyone’s job.
