Artificial Intelligence is already applied in Argentine schools

The topic of artificial intelligence (AI) and its impact on education has been widely discussed. Although there are those who warn of potential negative effects, such as the dehumanization of the educational process, it is undeniable that AI can also have a hugely positive impact: it can transform and enrich teaching and learning models in innovative and effective ways.

Our school takes a progressive approach towards incorporating technology into education, especially in the area of artificial intelligence, understanding that we live in a rapidly changing digital age and that preparing students for this new world is crucial.

The students at our school have embraced these initiatives with enthusiasm, seeing AI not only as an educational tool but also as an opportunity to explore ethical and social issues related to technology. With their help, the children actively participate in the educational proposal and have the possibility of designing and managing their own process.

One of the initiatives that stands out in our program is the creation by students of a chatbot that can answer questions about the institution, such as the class schedule, the academic curriculum and the extracurricular activities available, a project that was coordinated by the Technology teacher, Nicolás Talarico.

On another occasion, they developed interactive learning experiences in which they were able to interact, through the ChatGPT interface, with historical figures such as Milton Friedman, Marie Curie, Isaac Newton, Sam Altman and Agatha Christie, addressing previously determined topics.

In this way, we work together with our students to integrate artificial intelligence tools into daily academic activities. We use these technologies to complement sources of information, encourage critical analysis, serve as text editors and, in general, act as allies in the educational process.

In school, AI offers a range of possibilities to enrich education. In addition to acting as personalized tutors, AI systems can simulate debates, create interactive case studies and study guides, and even allow students to explore different outcomes in historical scenarios. These multifaceted applications of AI offer a wide range of opportunities to improve the quality and effectiveness of the educational process.

To reach this point, at school we work consistently to promote a technological culture among students, hand in hand with subjects such as Computing and Robotics. Students are well prepared not only to use these tools, but also to understand the ethical and social implications of their use. This approach ensures that students are not only consumers of technology, but also critical thinkers capable of understanding and questioning its impact on society.
