From now on, people with disabilities can integrate the pension into their income in the labor market. Why is this advance important?
From today The incompatibility between the disability pension and work will cease to exist, a change that many people with disabilities were waiting for. The measure represents progress in terms of labor inclusion and on the path to guaranteeing the rights of the group which, it is worth remembering, are endorsed in the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
One of the greatest debts that we have as a society in this sense has to do with the labor barriers imposed by an environment that, instead of collaborating, hinders the process or circuit of inclusion from the job search to the incorporation itself. Therefore, this measure seeks to reduce those obstacles that prevent a person with a disability from being able to develop a job without worrying about whether they will lose a benefit or if the risk of, for example, being fired is worth it.
On the other hand, it is important to rescue the important economic expenditure that people with disabilities have every day, which only increases in cases of unemployment that, unfortunately, are the majority today. Currently, the majority of people with disabilities do not have a job without being able to afford or sustain the great economic demand that treatments, transfers, and supports imply. Even more, unemployment affects their self-esteem and self-perception.
Although we must attend to its course, this change was necessary. Not only to continue building a more inclusive present and future but to continue promoting a more supportive and empathetic Argentina where all people have a place.
