Peacekeepers of the Russian Federation ensured the safety when transplanting vineyards in remote areas of Nagorno-Karabakh. This was reported by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense on Saturday, December 4.
“Residents of the Askeran region appealed to the Russian peacekeeping contingent with a request to ensure the safety of agricultural work near the demarcation line. At this stage, grape seedlings are being transplanted, ”said Aleksey Zaitsev, a representative of the Russian peacekeeping contingent.
The replanting of vineyards on the plantations began after the Russian peacekeepers cleared unexploded ordnance and cleared the territory of explosives in the village of Khramort, Askeran region.
“Since 1980 I have been living in Nagorno-Karabakh. For 20 years I have been working in these places, pomegranate and grape plantations. After the war, they could not work. How the peacekeepers arrived – they help us, and we can already go to work again. Peacekeepers, if they were not there, we would not be able to work in our places. Peacekeepers ensure our safety, without them we would not be able to work, ”said Aida Grigoryan, a resident of the village of Khramort.
Local residents are turning to the Russian military for help so as not to disrupt the planned measures to prepare the plantations for winter.
On December 3, military medics of the Russian peacekeeping contingent visited all 27 observation posts in Nagorno-Karabakh in one day and performed preventive maintenance. It is also noted that the planned revaccination of Russian peacekeepers continues at remote observation posts located along the line of contact of the parties. Specialists disinfected common areas, eating, playing sports and accommodating military personnel. At each observation post, military doctors deployed and organized points where the military can measure the temperature around the clock.
