Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday, December 5, will take part in the We Are Together award ceremony. This was reported on December 4 by the Kremlin press service.

“On December 5, 2021, on the International Day of Volunteers, Vladimir Putin will take part in the #WeAreTogether award ceremony. The head of state will announce the name of the winner in the “Volunteer of the Year” nomination and will send greetings to all the participants and guests of the ceremony held as part of the social forum of the same name #We are Together in Moscow via video communication, ”the press service said.

In addition, the Russian leader will meet via video link with the President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies Francesco Rocca.

The press service stressed that the international prize “We are Together” was established to support social initiatives aimed at helping people and improving the quality of life. In 2021, more than 25 thousand applications were received for its competition.

Earlier, on December 3, the first deputy head of the presidential administration of the Russian Federation, Sergei Kiriyenko, said that in seven years the number of participants in charitable programs has grown fivefold – 15% of the country’s population. According to Kiriyenko, about 10 thousand companies took part in the We Are Together volunteer project. Within the framework of this action, more than 6.5 million people received assistance.

A day earlier, during the “We Are Together” forum, experts discussed the topic of supporting volunteering in the regions of Russia and the best practices of the new wave of governors. Daria Kislitsyna, head of the department of regional programs of the EISS, noted that the coronavirus pandemic contributed not only to the rise of the volunteer movement, but also to the adoption of managerial decisions for its long-term development.

In June 2020, Putin issued a decree awarding the Order of Pirogov and the Medal of Luka Krymsky to doctors and volunteers for their merits in the fight against epidemics and saving the lives of patients.

In the same month, the President instituted a commemorative medal for his contribution to the all-Russian mutual aid campaign #WeMotto, organized during the fight against the spread of coronavirus.

The action “We are together” started on March 21, 2020, its organizers were the dobro.ru platform, the All-Russian Popular Front (ONF) and a number of volunteer organizations.
