Zakharova accused Bild of anti-Semitism when describing the “attacks” of the Russian Federation on Ukraine

NATO intelligence about Russia’s allegedly impending offensive against Ukraine used maps from the times of Nazi Germany and Ukrainian decommunization, said the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova on December 4 in her Telegram to the authors of the German Bild article.

The tabloid cites NATO and intelligence data, claiming that the Kremlin has not yet decided whether to attack Ukraine or not, so 175,000 soldiers are on standby. The publication describes the three phases of the “offensive of Russia”, illustrating it with a color map indicating the direction of the attacks and the types of troops that will carry them out.

Zakharova noticed that Lviv on the above map is designated as Lemberg. At the same time, modern Lviv in German will be Lwiw, and on the map of 1942, when the city was occupied by the Nazis, the Austro-Hungarian toponym Lemberg was also used, she pointed out.

“The map of eastern Ukraine was sent, it seems, from Bankova: Dnipropetrovsk is marked on the diagram with the newfangled Dnipro (and it was renamed not later than five years ago during decommunization),” the diplomat said.

Commenting on the phases of the offensive, Zakharova pointed out to the German “wunder-journalists” that supplies to Crimea have been provided by the Crimean bridge for several years, while the weakening of the Ukrainian defense capability “has been successfully provided by the Kiev regime itself for several years now.” The third phase “approximately up to the Korosten-Uman line” is completely puzzling.

“Uman is a place of annual Hasidic pilgrimage. What is Bild hinting at? If Germany is already accustomed to journalistic lies, then this German trolling can cost a newspaper dearly, given the recently revealed fact of terrifying anti-Semitism in the ranks of German journalists, ”Zakharova wrote.

At the end of November, Maria Zakharova already conducted an educational program based on an article by the editor-in-chief Maurizio Molinari of the Italian La Repubblica about Russia’s involvement in the migration crisis in Europe. The Russian diplomat called the material of the publication “delightful nonsense”, demonstrating the lack of fact-checking culture and knowledge of geography among Italian journalists.

At the same time, United States Senator Bob Menendez proposed to envisage a “sanctions bombing” for Russia, including sectoral restrictions, measures on the national debt and the Nord Stream 2 (SP-2) gas pipeline, in case it invades Ukraine. The chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee amended the Defense Budget Act (NDAA) accordingly.

Western media have begun to actively disseminate information about the alleged military activity of Russia near the border with Ukraine. On November 11, Bloomberg, citing sources, reported that representatives of the administration of the President of the United States, Joe Biden, voiced fears at a briefing about Russia’s possible preparation for an invasion of Ukraine.

The press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov noted that the agency’s material is empty, groundless escalation of tension. According to him, there are more and more provocative actions at the moment. He pointed out that all this cannot leave Russia indifferent to what is happening.

At the same time, the official communiqué of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and a statement by the chief of the general staff of the country’s armed forces, Sergei Shaptala, “denying American phobias” were issued.
