Russian President Vladimir Putin took part in the “Wish Tree” campaign during the awards ceremony for the winners of the “We Are Together” international award.
The head of state took part in the event, which takes place on December 5 at the Manezh, by video link. With the help of one of the presenters of the ceremony, young Yegor, the president took off three postcards with wishes from the tree on the air.
Thus, 14-year-old Mark from the Moscow Region dreams of a guitar, 5-year-old Hazor from Buryatia wants to play the role of a firefighter, and 13-year-old Tatiana from Stavropol Territory wants to attend the Swan Lake ballet at the Mariinsky Theater.
“Consider that you are already on the road,” Putin said after hearing about the girl’s dream.
A day earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova, Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova and Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov joined the action. Golikova will fulfill the wish of Maxim from Odintsovo, Moscow Region, who dreams of visiting a fire station and taking a ride in a fire engine. Lyubimova had to fulfill the dream of Daria from the city of Klintsy, Bryansk region, who wants to visit the Great Moscow circus. Falkov will fulfill the wish of Elizabeth from St. Petersburg, who dreams of visiting Veliky Ustyug. It was also reported that the head of the presidential department for public projects Sergei Novikov, vice speaker of the State Duma Anna Kuznetsova and others took part in the action.
The day before, the first deputy head of the presidential administration of the Russian Federation, Sergei Kiriyenko, removed a toy from the tree, on which the wish of a girl from the Moscow region was written. She wants an electric guitar.
The All-Russian New Year’s Eve campaign “The Tree of Desires” started on November 15th. Applications began to be accepted at midnight, and by the middle of the day their number was more than 2 thousand, which is an absolute record for all the years of the project.
The “Christmas tree of desires” is installed in government offices, volunteer centers, and at major events. The action involves children aged 3 to 17 years with disabilities or those whose diseases threaten their lives, as well as orphans, children from low-income families and senior citizens with a health condition that threatens life. The role of Santa Claus is played by politicians, businessmen, and also officials.
The charitable project “Tree of Desires” is included in the presidential platform “Russia – the Land of Opportunities” and is being held for the fourth time.
