Russia and Turkey conducted another joint patrol in Syria

Russia and Turkey have conducted yet another successful joint patrol in Haseke province near the city of Qamishli in northeastern Syria. This was reported by the press service of the RF Ministry of Defense on Monday, December 6.

After a brief briefing, the Russian convoy, which included armored vehicles “Tigr”, “Typhoon” and armored personnel carriers, drove to the meeting point with the Turkish military a few tens of kilometers from the base to patrol the northeastern regions of Trans-Euphrates.

The movement was carried out exclusively at a strictly specified distance and speed.

The first point of movement was the settlement of Sheirek, there is also a checkpoint through which the Turkish military arrived in Syria, and through which they returned back. The road passed a dozen settlements. A few days ago, the Russian military have already passed this route to find out the traffic conditions and the condition of the roads.

The patrol along the entire route was accompanied by Russian Ka-52 and Mi-8 helicopters. In total, the convoy covered 50 km in 1.5 hours.

“We are coping with this task successfully, because there is a thorough preparation. Everything runs smoothly with us. The population in some settlements is very friendly towards the presence of the Russian flag on their territory. Children basically all wave their hands, parents are mostly women, they also go out with the children, wave their hands. They express their greetings to the Russian flag, ”said the head of the patrol convoy Andrei Chipizubov after returning to the base.

This patrol has become the 210th in a row. Joint patrolling of the Russian and Turkish Armed Forces in the northeastern regions of Zaevfrat began in 2019 in accordance with the agreements of Presidents Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Sochi.

On December 3, the Ministry of Defense reported that the military police of the Russian Federation in Syria conducted psychological training exercises with their Syrian colleagues on a special obstacle course in the Aleppo province in the immediate vicinity of the Idlib de-escalation zone. For the first time, the Syrian military police conducted training together with Russian fighters as a consolidated unit.
