On December 5, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke with the winners of the international prize “We Are Together – 2021” in an informal setting – over a cup of tea.
One of the winners, Pavel Berezhansky, managed to surprise the head of state with the number of appeals he had to work with.
“The idea arose from the first days of the coronavirus pandemic – I created a hotline, where I answered 300-400 messages every day. It all started simply – I posted a post on social networks, then we were shown on television. After a while, I began to receive requests from ambulance doctors. My task was just to reduce the load on the ambulance and the local service, I think we did it. Every day there are 300, 400, 500 calls, ”Berezhansky said.
“Were there 500 hits a day?” – asked the head of state.
“Yes. After the main work in the evening, I answered all the time, answered, answered. My wife is a pediatrician, and she also helped in this matter, ”Pavel said.
Putin inquired about Berezhansky’s opinion on the issue of improving domestic pediatrics. The young man replied that pediatricians should treat their patients as their children and their parents as their mothers.
“It seems to me that we should simply preserve and develop this humanity, we have this practice in our national pediatrics, it should be passed on to new generations. And young people who only come to medicine need mentoring, ”he said.
The We Are Together award ceremony was held on December 5, International Volunteer Day. Russian President Vladimir Putin took part in the event via video link. The head of state presented medals to the four winners of the international prize “We are Together”, and also said that he would support any initiatives in favor of volunteers, including their voluntary insurance.
A volunteer from the Tula region, Svetlana Vedernikova, who became a laureate of the award, could not contain her emotions and burst into tears on stage. She noted that the path to the received award was very difficult. According to her, doctors, working from morning to night in hospitals, found time to do good deeds.
As noted in the Kremlin, the international prize “We are Together” was established to support social initiatives aimed at helping people and improving the quality of life. In 2021, more than 25 thousand applications were received for its competition.
