Possible cause of death of FC Rostov coach Gamula

The death of the former coach of the Rostov football club Igor Gamula could have been caused by hypoglycemic shock. This was announced on Wednesday, December 8, by the former player of Chornomorets Roman Oreshchuk.

“One of the versions is hypoglycemic shock, but it just looks like, I can’t say 100%, the details are being clarified. As I understand it, he will be buried in Rostov, but little time has passed. It seems like at half past nine or eight o’clock his daughter found him, but I can’t say for sure. I know for sure that she was the first to see him in this state, ”he told TASS.

The death of the 61-year-old coach became known earlier that day. No cause of death was reported.

The coach of “Rostov” Vitaly Kafanov called the death of the coach shocking news. Kafanov said that recently they rarely crossed paths with Gamula, while the former coach of the club did not say anything about his health.

Condolences in connection with the death of Gamula were also expressed by the former vice-president of “Rostov” Alexander Shikunov. He described the coach as a great footballer and soul man.

The match of the 18th round of Tinkoff of the Russian Premier League, Rostov – Ural, on December 11, will begin with a minute of silence in memory of Gamula.

Igor Gamula is a Soviet, Ukrainian and Russian footballer and football coach. In July 2011, he became a coach-breeder of the Rostov club, and in September 2014 he was approved as the head coach of the team. Although he subsequently left the post, Gamula continued to work as the senior coach of Rostov’s youth squad.

In 2021, he became the head coach of the Heraklion team.
