Russian Su-27 fighters escorted French military aircraft Rafale and Mirage-2000 in the skies over the Black Sea. This was reported on December 8 at the National Defense Control Center of the Russian Federation.
It is noted that Russian airspace control devices detected air targets approaching the state border of the Russian Federation over the neutral waters of the Black Sea.
“The crews of Russian fighters identified the aerial targets as two tactical fighters Mirage-2000 and Rafale, as well as the French Aerospace Forces C-135 tanker and escorted them over the Black Sea,” the message says.
After the turn of the foreign military aircraft, the Russian fighters returned to the home airfield.
Earlier, on December 3, a civilian plane flying from Tel Aviv to Moscow was forced to change course over the Black Sea to avoid a dangerous rapprochement with an American reconnaissance aircraft. It was noted that the military plane randomly crossed the established civil aviation routes and approached the passenger Airbus.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Maria Zakharova, the actions of the US Air Force created a threat to civil aviation. She stressed that if in this case the catastrophe was averted, this does not mean that the United States and NATO can risk the lives of people with impunity.
On the same day, air targets approaching the border of the Russian Federation were also found over the neutral waters of the Black Sea. To prevent violation of the border of the Russian Federation, Su-27 and Su-30 fighters were raised into the air. Crews of Russian fighters identified the targets as the US Air Force RC-135 strategic reconnaissance aircraft and the US Army CL-600 Artemis reconnaissance and targeting aircraft and escorted them over the Black Sea.
Earlier, on November 30, Russian leader Vladimir Putin said that Russia is concerned about military exercises, including unplanned ones, near its borders. The President noted that bombers flew 20 km from the border of the Russian Federation, carrying high-precision weapons, and possibly nuclear ones.
