Russian President Vladimir Putin conferred the rank of Colonel General on Deputy Defense Minister Yunus-Bek Yevkurov. The corresponding decree was published on December 8 on the official Internet portal of legal information.
“To confer military ranks on servicemen of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation: Colonel-General Yunus-Bek Bamatgireevich Yevkurov,” the document says.
Six more servicemen were awarded the rank of lieutenant general, eleven – major general. By the same decree, four military men were awarded the rank of Rear Admiral.
Yunus-Bek Evkurov – officer, holder of the title “Hero of Russia”. He headed Ingushetia after the resignation of Murat Zyazikov in October 2008. He was appointed Deputy Minister of Defense in 2019.
In February, the Russian leader conferred general ranks on 26 law enforcement officers. So, in particular, five Rosguard servicemen received the military ranks of lieutenant general and major general, three more Rosguard employees were awarded the rank of police major general. Four employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations also received the rank of major general.
