The large landing ship (BDK) of the Russian Navy “Caesar Kunikov” on Wednesday, passing the Bosphorus, entered the Mediterranean Sea. This was reported by observers in Istanbul, who published a photo of the ship’s passage through the strait on December 8.

The BDK goes to the Syrian port of Tartus, where the logistics base of the Russian Navy is located in the Mediterranean Sea, the reports say. Judging by the draft, the ship is sailing to Syria with a significant cargo.

During the passage of the “Caesar Kunikov” through the Bosphorus, he was accompanied by a boat from the Turkish coast guard.

A Russian squadron of more than ten warships and auxiliary vessels is currently operating in the Mediterranean Sea.

In November, the minesweeper “Vice-Admiral Zakharyin”, the anti-sabotage boat P-191 “Kadet” and the sea tug MB-304 were seen passing through the Bosphorus. According to Turkish sources, the ships also went to the Syrian port of Tartus.

Also in the fall, the Russian Navy’s large landing craft “Caesar Kunikov” was seen in the Mediterranean Sea.
