The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia decided to encourage the man who helped the senior police lieutenant Georgy Domolaev to detain the attacker, who on the eve of the shooting at the Ryazansky MFC in Moscow. The corresponding decision was made by the head of the headquarters of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Oleg Baranov. This was reported on December 8 by the “Ministry of Internal Affairs of Media”.
“A decision was made to encourage a caring citizen, whose courageous and decisive actions allowed the police officer to completely protect others from possible harm and prevent the offender from escaping from the scene,” said Vladimir Vasenin, head of the information and public relations department of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation in Moscow.
According to the department, the man saw that the policeman was trying to detain the criminal, ran up to him and helped to hold the shooter until the arrival of the task force.
“Meanwhile, Georgy Domolaev disarmed the detainee and threw aside the pistol and knife that were with him,” the ministry said.
Earlier on Wednesday, actor Ilya Artamonov, who was in the Ryazansky MFC during an armed attack, told about the arrest of the one who opened fire in the Moscow MFC. According to the artist, an employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Domolaev, who managed to neutralize the criminal, made a favorable impression on him even before the incident. The actor noted that when the policeman began to put the attacker’s hands behind his back, he also provided assistance and pinned the attacker to the ground.
“I think that Domolaev is a great fellow, he was the first to attack a man – without a weapon he wanted to protect people from an armed psycho,” the actor added.
The shooting took place on December 7. As a result of the accident, two people died, both were MFC employees, four more, including a 10-year-old child, were injured. Doctors successfully operated on the girl.
According to Izvestia, the attacker made a scandal after he was asked to put on a mask at the entrance. The man, according to eyewitnesses, behaved inappropriately, made loud statements about the end of the world and called the coronavirus pandemic a world conspiracy.
The gunman was neutralized by senior police lieutenant Georgy Domolaev, who was at the workplace without a weapon. Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev decided to nominate him for a state award.
A criminal case was initiated on the fact of murder and illegal arms trafficking. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs spokesman Irina Volk, a 45-year-old resident of Moscow was detained. Previously, this is Sergei Glazov.
On December 8, the Investigative Committee of Russia published a video of the interrogation of the gunman. He admitted his guilt.
