The Russian army will soon be armed with kamikaze drones, which are capable of using the so-called swarm – a one-time massive attack on the enemy. The development of the killer drones was carried out by a subsidiary of the Kalashnikov concern.
The chief designer of the ZALA AERO development company, Alexander Zakharov, said in an interview with Izvestia that the practice of recent conflicts in the world showed that loitering ammunition (as manufacturers call kamikaze UAVs. – Izvestia) showed the greatest efficiency when working against lightly armored vehicles, according to infrastructure facilities and enemy manpower.
“The main factor in making a decision on the use of such weapons is economic expediency. We are now talking about the ratio of the price of the ammunition itself and the target it hits, ”he said.
As the main advantage of kamikaze drones, Zakharov called the possibility of launching them from unprepared sites and from a distance greater than that of classic artillery ammunition.
“This is a unique advantage. It is almost impossible to track the launch site, which ensures one of the main requirements – the safety of personnel. Only two people can launch a dozen guided munitions literally from the back of a standard van, ”the developer emphasized.
