Residents of the Moscow region will be able to legally cut spruce in forest nurseries

Residents of the Moscow region will be able to legally choose and cut spruce for the New Year in two forest nurseries located in Dmitrov and Sergiev Posad. This was announced on Friday, December 10, by the press service of the regional government.

As noted by the chairman of the forestry committee of the region Elena Kazimir, only trees specially grown for these purposes are intended for felling, according to the TV channel “360”. Cutting in ordinary forests is prohibited. A tree with a length of 1–1.5 m will cost from 300 rubles, for a two-meter spruce you will have to pay 800 rubles.

You can also buy a tree up to a meter for 200-250 rubles or take a coniferous spruce branch for 30 rubles per branch. This can be done until January 7th.

Casimir added that the buyer chops down the selected tree on his own under the supervision of an official. For a fee, the staff of the nursery can also do this.

Deputy Prime Minister of the Moscow Region Georgy Filimonov said that such actions are being held for the third year in a row and are an effective practice to prevent illegal logging.

On November 30, prices for New Year trees in the Moscow region became known. So, a New Year tree at the Christmas tree markets in the Moscow region can be purchased from 600 rubles. Prices will depend on the type of wood and its size.
