The State Duma explained the receipt of a pension twice in December

Some retirees will receive payments twice in December, since many government agencies, including Russian Post offices, will be closed during the New Year holidays. State Duma deputy Svetlana Bessarab announced this on December 10.

Earlier on Friday, the Pension Fund of Russia said that pensioners who receive payments on the 1st day of each month through the Russian Post offices, their pension for January is due in December.

As Bessarab explained in an interview with the Duma TV channel, due to weekends and shifts in the schedule, delays in calculating pensions and social benefits may occur. To prevent this from happening, payments for January are paid in December.

On December 10, the head of the Just Russia – For Truth faction in the State Duma, Sergei Mironov, sent to the government a bill on the annual payment of the 13th pension to Russian pensioners. He stressed that the proposal is aimed at fighting poverty, and he called the pensioners “the most socially unprotected citizens.”

Earlier, on November 20, it was reported that new rules for the payment of pensions would come into force on January 1, 2022. According to the innovations approved by the Ministry of Labor, pensions can be paid and delivered in the territory with the introduced emergency regime earlier.

Russians will also now be able to choose how to receive payments: through the post office or another organization.
