A fair key
Have fun and drive in Linz along the Donaulände towards the city: virtually no car that doesn’t have its rear facing the road and/or its nose facing the cycle path. In principle it would be forbidden, but it doesn’t matter. In recent decades, the car industry has broken road traffic standards and lost touch with the city’s historical circumstances.
It is up to everyone to devote themselves to the pursuit of ever larger cars, ignoring the public transport options. But then you have to pay for it too. Small cars – normal fees, large cars – higher fees: This is a fair key that is also understandable for 500 hp electric SUV drivers.

Arbitrarily
It will be expensive for SUV owners in Paris. Anyone who parks in the city center for an hour now has to pay 18 (!) instead of the previous six euros. This is metropolitan robber baronism. And it’s purely arbitrary. The new rules only apply to visitors; residents are excluded, as are craftsmen and other service providers. The tourist rip-off is quickly exposed.
This regulation was determined as the result of a referendum. 1.3 million people were called to vote, but only six percent took part. This lack of interest primarily shows that Paris city politics has addressed a problem that 94 percent of people in Paris are probably not particularly concerned about.
