In Moscow, festive lighting was turned on, the streets of the city were decorated on the eve of the New Year. This was announced on Saturday, December 11, by the mayor of the capital Sergei Sobyanin.
“Yesterday we turned on the festive lighting. More than 4 thousand original lighting structures have adorned the streets, squares and parks of Moscow in the center and in ordinary residential areas. In the darkest time of the year, they will give us warmth and a festive mood, ”the mayor wrote on his blog.
Light arches have appeared on Tverskaya and other streets of the capital, and light tunnels and glowing numbers 2022 now adorn the most popular pedestrian zones among citizens. In addition, residents and guests of Moscow will be able to see a huge New Year’s ball weighing 35 tons and 20 m high on Poklonnaya Hill.
Earlier that day, it became known that parking on all streets of Moscow on New Year’s holidays from December 31 to January 8 will be free. Whereas on January 9, it will be possible to park according to Sunday rules: free of charge, except for streets with a higher tariff, at 380 rubles per hour.
On November 8, tickets for the fast train “Moroz-Express” went on sale, which will connect Moscow with the homeland of Santa Claus – Veliky Ustyug. The first flight is scheduled for January 3. Travel time will be 18 hours.
