The top winery of Johannes & Martina Gross is located in Ratsch on the South Styrian wine route. Not far to the south, in Gorca, Slovenia, Michael & Maria Gross run the renowned winery Vino Gross. The two brothers married two sisters and the four of them are working together on the Gross & Gross winery in Ehrenhausen.

One would almost be inclined to say that this is probably a little confusion within the family. However, if you take a closer look, you can see a clear concept behind it, which is more than worth noting.

In the established companies, everyone works according to their defined strategy to produce terroir wines typical of their origins, which have long been strongly present on the domestic and international markets. At Gross & Gross, on the other hand, some new paths are being broken with more than exciting wines that people like to focus on. Each of the four contributes their expertise to create something new.

In the beginning there was Sauvignon Blanc

It all started with a typical Sauvignon Blanc called Jakobi. Fresh, fruity, aromatic and spicy, moderate alcohol content and stimulating, elegant drinking flow. The label is decorated with symbols from viticulture in the old farmers’ calendar and is influenced by characters from the respective vintage.

Mitzi stands for a refreshing, cool, wonderfully fruity yellow muscat with floral notes and the lightness of being. Here, too, there is a meaningful label that brings out some of the farmer’s rules. As a nice example:

“September rain is a blessing for the farmer, but poison for the winemaker if it hits him!”

Fortuna Minor as PetNat and Flein, the pure grape juice, complete the range of products. Provisionally. Because at Gross & Gross there are sure to be some interesting things to come. Let us surprise.
